I moved across the country and had to do a big plant purge beforehand, I probably have ten plants left after selling and giving away 100+ with the idea that once I’m in my new house, I can mostly start over…but I’m currently just heartbroken about the downsize 😭

I’m devastated for you. Time to tour all the local nurseries in the new city!
I know the feeling. It’ll be okay, but you’re grieving and grief is hard even if it’s over losing plants.
I’ve been there, done that, and I can tell u that you’ll have plants taking over your life again in no time!! 😆
You can get thru this honey!! I would totally find a way to give you more plants back if I could!! 😭
Nah I’ve grown attached to mine they all comin with me lmao
How sad
Ugh the worst feeling I had when moving was realizing there was not enough room for some of my guys. Still trying to build back better but I miss some of them!
Imagine how exciting will be to buy and grow new ones while your past plants live in others houses and thrive. It’s like you are building your own legacy 🙉✨
Well, while you have to give yourself a bit of time to grieve over your loss, this is definitely a chance to start over.
If you’ve ever pruned any of your houseplants, you know all this means is that you’re getting ready to activate new grow points. Everything will look a little bare for a while, but it sounds like your home gardening roots are nice and solid. So give yourself time to gather some strength, and when you’re ready, start putting out new green growth everywhere! Before you know it, your new home will be lush with leaves again. It will all look a bit different from before, but hopefully no less loved.
I mean, plus side… the house is cute… and there is windows.. you have room for new ones. 😊 time to shop
I can relate. I battled thrips for YEARS. Had dozens and dozens of plants. I could treat my plants and keep them at bay; keep them from killing them – but could never eliminate them. It was so much work. It felt endless. My monstera got larger and larger and it was getting harder to wheel him in and outside the house to treat him.
So I gave up. Purged everything. Decided to start fresh whenever I’m ready again.
That was a couple of years ago. The thrips are gone. But so are my plants. I haven’t gotten the courage to start again.
Update us on your progress please! It’s going to be so exciting to build the crew back up!
at least now you have a reason to get more plants once you move but your collection and setup was gorgeous 🫡❤️
Think of all the new friends you get to go find now and how all of these have found new loving homes that will always make your loved ones smile and think of you!
Oh man, before reading the caption, I was about to comment that your plant room was a vibe! But plus side is you get to go plant shopping and that’s always so fun 🤗🪴
I would simply just die and I don’t even have close to that many plants, on the bright side it will be super fun to start collecting from pretty much scratch.
Ouch!
It will regrow in no time! Maybe some new local swap groups could be a nice way to meet some new potential plant friends and pick up some plants?
It sucks going through that process though!

Just think of the curation possibilities!
They have room to establish themselves while being close to their friends. You can watch the light move around your home for now filling your heart.
Time to buy another hundred ✨️
In 3 years you will be shocked at how big your new collection is!!! I went through thrips and lost a ton of my collection. Its back now and better than ever! With curated plants i truly love because now I know what I like 😊
It will be okay! I moved a couple of times and had to sell /give away some amazing plants… but… think of it this way, you now can buy any plant you want and make a great collection!! 🙂
I lost thousand and thousands of dollars of rare exotics to a mystery disease so, yes you’ll be alright! It’s hard to start over but you’ll build again.
It will definitely be okay!
i see a much bigger room that can hold even more plants!!take this as an opportunity to make an even more beautiful and diverse collection!
if there is one thing I know for sure about this hobby its that there is rarely a shortage of new plants to buy 😂
I had to leave all of mine behind fleeing from DV. Some of them were years old, some from family, some gifts from friends. It’s still hard, but it gets easier. I’m in a different climate so I focus on what I can grow here that I couldn’t at my last home. One door closes, one door opens, so to speak.
I went to A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of trouble moving at least 50 mostly succulents of varying size from a semi-shaded balcony in Florida to indoors in the Midwest. Half of them didn’t survive more than a year. If I knew people to give them to before I left FL I would have. You will bounce back in your new home! 🪴
What made you decide to keep certain plants in particular?
Most houseplants are likely clones of just a few matrices, so maybe you can think that when you buy them again in the new house, you basically have the same plants again.
I had a single tear roll down my cheek. At least they went to good homes 💛 good luck on your move!
It will be okay and some time soon you’ll find someone moving. They’ll be selling their plants and you’ll buy a bunch.
Then you’ll have plants again and they’ll know the plants will be in good hands.
I won’t tell you it doesn’t suck. But it genuinely will get better and you’ll love your new plants.
My dream! It’s magnificent
Been there, done that.
I’m not going to lie and say it doesn’t hurt. But, you will rebound and come back with more plants.
You have gained knowledge in how to take care of plants, so you will be ahead once you’re established in your new home.
You got this, I believe in you.
Just see it as an opportunity to buy new plants 😍
Why?
No it’s not going to be ok. Sorry! Not until the babies are back where they belong safe and sound.😱🥲🥲
It’s gunna be okay. It’s gunna be okay. It’s gunna be okay.
Sending you love! I’m moving in 4 months and I’m dreading the plant move

Iykyk
I have an indoor tree that I would never be able to get out of my house and it’ll be so sad to have to leave it someday
I lost my collection of over 200 from a huge thrips attack and it humbled my ass so much 😭 you’ll regrow and get new plant babies one step at a time. I’m so sorry
OP I’m sorry 😭 I think I would actually be grieving if I had to get rid of mine.
It will be ok! But only since it is you and not me. I’ve had a couple of my plants since I was 17 years old. I’m now 63. We are attached.
mcdonald’s before mcdonald’s after
I about had a heart attack when I saw the second picture.
My condolences.
70% of my U-Haul is plants. Couldn’t be me 😂
This isnt quite the same.. but I killed all my plants by neglect (a whole room of them, except one survivor) when I got deep into my addiction..
I still remember some of them and miss them almost 10 years later (they would have been so big!)
Take this opportunity to restart new!
Take the opportunity to take stock of what you do have and that new things will come.
Not everything meaningful has to last forever.
Its okay to be sad but it sounds like your plants went to new homes. That’s exciting in itself. They will spread joy in the area you left 🙂
I gasped so loud my coworkers thought I was in distress
